Give a family an electric three-wheel taxi through your Sadaqah and Zakat and go GREEN.

This cycling challenge is raising funds to place electric three-wheel taxis, known locally as TomToms, into the hands of vulnerable families in Bangladesh. Behind every vehicle stands one earner who is ready to work and one household that depends on that effort. When the right opportunity appears, the determination that already exists within many families can finally turn into dependable income.

In communities across Bangladesh, poverty is rarely caused by a lack of willingness to work. Far more often, it grows from the absence of one practical opening that allows effort to translate into earnings. Without that opening, the pressure spreads through the entire household, with food becoming harder to secure, school costs becoming difficult to manage, and children sometimes leaving education in order to help their families survive.

The vehicle

Electric three-wheel taxis are a familiar part of everyday life across towns and villages throughout Bangladesh. They carry passengers to markets, schools, clinics, and places of work, and each journey provides the driver with a small fare that supports the household waiting at home.

For a vulnerable family, access to a TomTom can transform daily life. Regular income allows parents to provide food more consistently, manage essential household costs, and keep children in school rather than sending them out to work. What appears at first glance to be a simple vehicle quickly becomes a foundation on which a family can rebuild stability.

The package

The full cost of placing one TomTom into service is £1,500, and that amount includes far more than the vehicle itself. Drivers receive structured training, practical driving experience, maintenance guidance, and support in understanding the rules and responsibilities connected with operating a taxi.

Alongside these practical elements, participants receive guidance on saving money and managing household resources so that the income earned can support their families over the long term. One full year of servicing, including parts and labour, is also provided so that the vehicle remains reliable during its most important first year of operation.

This preparation ensures that the TomTom becomes a lasting livelihood rather than a short-term intervention.

Your Zakat

For those looking to fulfil their Zakat in a way that produces meaningful and lasting benefit, this project offers a clear path. Your Zakat helps place a means of earning into the hands of someone who is determined to support their family through honest work.

Income generated through the vehicle helps secure food, meet school costs, and reduce the pressure that pushes families into difficult decisions. When earnings become steady, children are more likely to remain in education and less likely to be drawn into labour that can be physically demanding or hazardous.

A loved one

Many supporters choose to fund a full TomTom in the name of a loved one and seek the reward of Sadaqah Jariyah through an act of charity that continues to benefit others.

When a TomTom begins operating, the driver earns through daily work, the family gains greater stability, and the vehicle continues to serve that household over time. Given in honour of a parent, spouse, grandparent, child, or anyone whose memory you wish to honour, the gift becomes an ongoing form of charity connected to real lives and visible change.
